Seven Sisters Market
Wards Corner Community Plan

Seven Sisters Market is one of the largest Latin markets in the UK. Unfortunately, the Market shuttered its doors in March 2020, during the pandemic, and remained closed since then. 

​

Efforts are underway to set up a temporary market at Wards Corner in Seven Sisters, led by TfL's commercial property company. This collaborative plan aims to provide indoor and outdoor spaces, offering a fresh start for traders to return after three-years.

​

The broader objective of the Wards Corner plan was to revitalize engagement in the area by fostering collaboration with residents, businesses, and local partners for a new, temporary market at Seven Sisters. 

Project Duration: 1 month

My Role: Site visiting, interviewing people, drawing illustrations, making website wireframes, low and high fidelity prototypes, website design

“Our goal is to reinvigorate Seven Sisters Market through the sharing of personal anecdotes and recipes. By connecting and bringing together people through shared cultural experiences, we attempt to reignite the liveliness of the market while maintaining its original charm and independence. The market itself has historically been a hub and a home to many; in doing our work we hope to bring it back to what it once was, to the people for the people.”

  • Concerns about fostering meaningful community engagement and encouraging active participation among residents.

We chose a illustration aesthetic rather than pictures believing it leaves curiosity that you should only experience by going to the place and try these dishes or make them yourselves. The visual inspiration comes from Tom Hovey and his work for the British Bake Off.
